Business cards are one of the most underutilized tools in marketing your business and / or service. Your business card is an integral part of the first impression you and your business will receive. If your business card looks outdated or is printed from your own printer, a potential client may get the impression that you are not keeping up with the times and decide to do business elsewhere.

It’s easy to update your business look with your business card. A lot of businesses may have business cards that are only one color or black & white, which is initially done because it is more cost effective, but with today’s digital presses you can have full color cards printed at a very reasonable cost. Printing in full color will make your business card “pop” and set you apart from the rest. Using both the front and back of your business card is another way you can gain full benefit of your business card. Depending on your market you can put some valuable information on the back side, including information that will help drive traffic to your website.

There is an art to designing a business card that will grab someone's attention, a card that is different from the rest. If someone looks at your card and says, “Wow this card is really unique and creative”, chances are they will hold on to it. Other things to consider is that your card should be appropriate for your business, industry and personal style.

You should also keep business cards with you, whether in your wallet, car, desk or at home, this way you’ll have them available to hand out if an opportunity presents itself. Also, you should think about creative ways to distribute your card and make sure to present your card to everyone you do daily business with. Ultimately, the more cards you distribute, the more business you'll generate.
