Today, more than ever before, every one is trying to stretch their marketing and advertising dollars, if they have any at all! It is important to keep your name out there, to let perspective clients know that you are ready, willing and able to provide them with a service and/or product.

Today, more than ever before, every one is trying to stretch their marketing and advertising dollars, if they have any at all! It is important to keep your name out there, to let perspective clients know that you are ready, willing and able to provide them with a service and/or product.

With websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and PartnerUp, there are many different ways to network on the web. I found a great way to get in touch with new perspective clients is through a web networking site called “MerchantCircle.com”. When I was trying to get my website ranking higher up on Google, I came across MerchantCircle. With MerchantCircle you can promote your business with online coupons, blogs, ads, and newsletters, and best of all the basic membership is free! You set up a web page with all of your business information and start to invite other members to join your network. At one point my webpage on MerchantCircle was number 6 out of 650,000 businesses nationwide, amazing!

Once you’ve joined MerchantCircle (MC), you can customize your webpage with a link to your main site. MC has an activity tracker that will track the number of hits you have on your site monthly as well as Google and Yahoo crawls. I currently have 469 connections on my page, so whenever I decide to create a coupon, ad or newsletter, it’ll go out to all of my connections at no cost to me.

It is like a virtual yellow pages, but with more info and a more personal approach. You can upload your logo as well as other images that are pertinent to your business. The site also allows people to rate your business, so you can get input on how your business is perceived. Also, by becoming a member of MC you’ll able to see what other local, as well as national businesses are offering.

I found that another great perk of being a MC member is that my business is now on the first page of Google, and I am receiving many more hits to my site.

In conclusion, in today's marketplace, it is wise to  do as much creative marketing as possible to keep your business name out there. You can find me at MerchantCircle.
